NRA BASIC PISTOL SAFETY COURSE

In order to obtain a New York State Pistol Permit you must successfully complete a basic pistol safety course from a Certified NRA Instructor.  Our onsite school, the Gold Shield Training Center offers this course along with "full service" pistol permit application assistance. Please visit their site at www.goldshieldtraining.com for more information.

 

 
UTAH CONCEALED CARRY PISTOL COURSE

Holding a valid Utah Pistol Permit will allow you to carry your handgun in over 30 states.  Full details on the reciprocity of states will be provided in class as well as application assistance, passport photo's, fingerprints, notary services will all be completed on site at the Gold Shield Training Center, our onsite training school. Please visit their site at www.goldshieldtraining.com for more information.

 

 
LEVEL 1
 
EVERYDAY HANDGUN
101

This 101 Level 1 Course is an introduction to Pistol or Revolver ownership. This handgun Course is for the person who owns a Handgun or recently became a pistol permit holder and never went about the fundamentals of its use. New owners, women and couples are encouraged to participate. Range time and range instruction include gun handling skill and manipulation, basic knowledge necessary to safe gun, handling, stances, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control, breathing, follow through, loading, firing, and most important muzzle management. The student will find this course to be the perfect foundation for Handgun use. Range safety briefing and Emergency medical care is also addressed during every course.       

 
EVERYDAY SHOTGUN
101

This is a 101 level 1 Course introduction to shotgun ownership. This shotgun course is for the person who owns a shotgun or recently purchased a shotgun and never went about the fundamentals of its use. New owners, women and couples are encouraged to participate. Range time and range instruction include gun handling skill and manipulation, basic knowledge necessary to safe gun, handling, stances, sight alignment, sight picture, shooting from the hip, trigger control, breathing, follow through, loading, firing, and most important muzzle management. The student, after this class, will be able to educate family members about the fire arm in home safety, safe storage and transporting the firearm. Range safety briefing and Emergency medical care is also addressed during every course.    

 

LAW ENFORCEMENT QUALIFICATION PREP COURSE
101

This is a 101 level 1 Course designed to prepare Law Enforcement Officers for their Firearms Qualification. Law Enforcement Officers will leave this course with the basic foundation in meeting firearms standards in your next Department Firearms Qualifying Cycle. Range safety briefing and Emergency medical care is also addressed during every course. 

 

PERSONAL PROTECTION COURSE
101-102

This 101-102 level course is designed as a preparation/prerequisite for in the line of duty or scope of your employment shooting & techniques in daily use, and in low light in the public safety sector.  It will give you the tools to assess a situation and hopefully make proper decision.  In this course the student must be able to demonstrate safe gun handling skill and manipulation, basic knowledge necessary to safe gun handling, loading, firing and most important muzzle management. The student will find this course to be the perfect foundation. Students will also learn methods for concealed carry.  

 

 
LEVEL 2 - SKILL BUILDER WORKSHOPS
 
DEFENSIVE HANDGUN

This is a 201 Level 2 course in Pistol or Revolver, which takes the shooter into the next level of gun handling, educating the new shooter with NY standards of in the home and outside the home gun handling defense. The main objective in this course is gun presentation drawing from the holster (grab, clear, rock, and punch out), mag reloading, recoil management, malfunctions, knowing the status or condition of your gun, support hand location before gun presentation, stances, follow through, and most important muzzle management. Range safety briefing and Emergency medical care is also addressed during every course.

This is a 202 Level 2 course in Pistol or Revolver, which takes the shooter into the next level of basic and dynamic base reality drills and live fire scenarios. This class is specifically designed to take a student from the traditional “stand at the shooting port” to static fire training. The main objective in this course is basic movement with advanced tactics in gun handling, gun presentation drawing from the holster (grab, clear, rock, and punch out), mag reloading, recoil management, malfunctions, knowing the status or condition of your gun, support hand location before gun presentation, stances, follow through, cover, and most important muzzle management. Defensive drills will allow the student to effectively train to use a defensive handgun in and outside the home in a defensive tactical situation. Range safety briefing and Emergency medical care is also addressed during every course.    

 

DEFENSIVE SHOTGUN
201

This is a 202 Level 2 course. In the shotgun world  there are a  number of different types of shotgun shooting/training styles, the everyday shotgun, defensive shotgun, tactical shotgun, and competition shotgun i.e. trap and skeet, USPSA and steel challenge competition just to name a few. In the defensive shotgun course you can pick the type of training that you would like to attend. In the everyday/defense there will be a 1 hour lecture and/or oral presentation of the NY standard law for in the home and outside the home defense. In the competition/sports there will also be a 1 hour lectures oral presentation on the rules of the game and the course of fire for the competition/sports. The manipulation and the bases of safe gun handling skills can be applied to all levels of shotgun shooting. This knowledge is necessary to safe gun handling, Stands, Sight alignment, Sight picture, Shooting from the hip,  Trigger control, Breathing, Follow through, loading, firing, home safety, safe storage, transporting, and most important muzzle management and the student will be able to educate family members about the fire arm. Range safety briefing and Emergency medical care is also addressed during every course.    

 

DEFENSIVE RIFLE/CARBINE
201

This 201 Level 2 course is an introduction to Carbine/Rifle ownership. This Course is for the person who owns a Carbine/Rifle or recently purchased a Carbine/Rifle and never went about the fundamentals of its use. New owners, women and couples are encouraged to participate. Range time and range instruction include gun handling skills, and manipulation, basic knowledge necessary for safe gun handling, stances, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control, breathing, follow through, loading, firing, and most importantly muzzle management. The student will find this course to be the perfect foundation for rifle / Carbine and pistol manipulation. Range safety briefing and Emergency medical care is also addressed during every course.

Defensive Carbine/Rifle 202 is a Level 2 course, which takes the shooter into the next level of basic and dynamic based reality drills and live fire action scenarios. This class is specifically designed to take a student from the traditional “stand at the shooting port” to static fire training. The main objective in this course is basic movement with advanced tactics in gun handling, gun presentation from the low ready position, mag reloading, recoil management, malfunctions, knowing the status or condition of your gun, stances, follow through, cover vs. concealment, and most important muzzle management, Defensive drills will allow the student to effectively train to use a defensive Carbine/Rifle in and outside the home in a defensive tactical situation. Range safety briefing and Emergency medical care is also addressed during every course.

No classroom, no lecture, just laying brass on the range.  Run through drill after drill with an instructor who can easily challenge and improve your current skills a great tune-up session to prepare for more advanced classes, competition, personal defenses, home defenses, tactical, building search, and street situational awareness.  In this course the student must be able to demonstrate safe gun handling skill and manipulation, basic knowledge necessary for safe gun handling, loading, firing and most importanly muzzle management. Range safety briefing and Emergency medical care is also addressed during every course.

LOW LIGHT SHOOTING TECHNIQUES
301

This is a 301 is a Level 3 course. Many engagements of potential threats or encounters can occur in low light environments. This advanced workshop takes you into the world of defense and adverse situations where light becomes a contributing factor. Learn how to defend yourself without the use of a light source in a low or no light situation. The student must have weapon systems familiarity of their equipment, foundational marksmanship skills, must be able to work from the holster in daylight before going zero dark. We will cover building, or outdoor scenarios, the student must be able to demonstrate safe gun handling skills, and manipulation, basic knowledge necessary for safe gun handling, loading, firing and most importantly, muzzle management. The student will find this course to be the perfect foundation for low light shooting. Range safety briefing and Emergency medical care is also addressed during every course.    

 

INTRODUCTION TO USPSA/IPSA COMPETTION SHOOTING
301

This is a 301 Level 3 course where the students will cover scenarios that require the practical application for competition skills, including drawing from the holster, concealment techniques, shooting on the move, flashlight techniques, engaging reactive targets, support hand and strong hand shooting, tactical reloads, use of cover, gun handling skill and manipulation, and the basic knowledge necessary to safe gun handling, loading, firing, most important muzzle management. The student will find this course to be the perfect foundation for the introduction to USPSA shooting competition. Range safety briefing and Emergency medical care is also addressed during every course.    

 

INTRODUCTION TO 3 GUNCOMPETTION SHOOTING
301

This is a 301 Level 3 course where you can practice competition shooting techniques with your pistol, rifle and shotgun. The student must have weapon systems familiarity with their own firearms, foundational marksmanship skills, and to be able to work from holsters. In this course the students will cover scenarios that require the practical application for competition skills, including concealment techniques, shooting on the move, transition techniques from one firearm to another, flashlight techniques, engaging reactive targets, Support hand and strong hand shooting, tactical reloads, and shooting from behind cover. The Student must be able to demonstrate safe gun handling skill and manipulation and most important muzzle management. The student will find this course to be the perfect foundation for rifle/ carbine, pistol, and shotgun manipulation. Range safety briefing and Emergency medical care is also addressed during every course.
